Unit Information

• Unit Name: 6 East Ortho/Trauma
• Number of Beds: 23
• Patient Ratios: 1:4, 1:5
• Unit Staffing: Unit Secretary and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
• Type of Equipment: Traction, fixators, cooling equipment
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: 3 twelve-hour shifts and 3 weekend shifts per schedule period
• Floating Policy: Contract labor is the first to float. Floating may occur to other MedSurg level of care units (General MedSurg, Nephrology, Neuro/Trauma)
• Patient Experience Requirements: Bedside shift report, hourly rounding
• Certifications: Level 1 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center

Qualifications

• Required Skills: RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Skills Needed: Ortho experience, Telemetry, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) knowledge
• Procedures Performed on Unit: Post-operative knee, hip, and shoulder replacements, trauma patients, some neuro overflow – NIH knowledge is beneficial

Dress Code

Required uniform consists of navy scrubs.
