Facility Overview

This facility features a 492-bed capacity and provides various specialized services, including:

• Level I Trauma Center
• Level III NICU
• Primary Stroke Center

Unit Information

The following units are available for placement:

• 6 North Trauma Surgical - 23 beds, focused on general and vascular surgeries. Trauma/surgical experience is required.
• 5 South Neuroscience - 33 beds, handling conditions such as CVA, TBI, and spinal surgeries. Experience in IV starts and central line management is essential.
• 5 North MedSurg/Oncology - 39 beds, dealing with high acuity and fast-paced MedSurg patients. Chemo administration experience is preferred.
• 3 South Orthopedic - 20 beds, focusing on orthopedic and spine surgeries. Skills in PCA pumps and wound care are required.
• 3 North MedSurg/Ortho/Urology - 23 beds with a focus on urology and ENT patients. Skills in trach care and wound management are required.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Providing high-quality patient care with a typical RN: patient ratio of 1:4-6
• Assisting with patient activities of daily living (ADLs), including turning, bathing, and medication administration
• Performing various clinical skills, as outlined in the unit specifications
• Monitoring telemetry strips and confirming readings every four hours

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates should possess:

• A minimum of 18 months of experience in MedSurg and/or ICU settings
• Experience with EPIC or Cerner EMR systems (Cerner required for strictly ICU experience)
• Active BLS and NIHSS certifications
• Telemetry experience preferred; candidates should detail their telemetry experience in the application

Support on the Unit

Each unit is supported by a team that includes:

• Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) with a ratio of 1:10-12
• Receptionist or Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)
• Phlebotomy staff
• IV/VAT Team
• Hospitalists and telemetry monitoring technicians

Orientation and Scheduling

New travelers and those returning after one year will receive:

• 24 hours of classroom orientation
• 24 hours on-unit orientation

Scheduling details include:

• Weekend rotation of every other or four weekend days per month
• One major and one minor holiday each year

Technology and Equipment

Familiarity with the following technologies is essential:

• EMR: Cerner (EPIC experience considered)
• IV pumps: Plum 360
• Medication dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Spacelabs

Parking and Dress Code

Free parking is available on the 2nd to 4th levels of the parking deck. Scrub colors are flexible and can be any color.
