Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma Center requiring 2 years of recent acute care experience.

Details

• Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Works every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• No on-call requirements
• Mandatory float facility - all resources required to float at facility discretion, including mid-shift
• May be floated to units outside primary competency, in which case a team-based care model is used
• May be floated to other facilities within a 50-mile radius with as little as 2 hours notice
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand (no pending licenses accepted)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skills required: cardiac monitoring, emergency response, interpretation of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response/Code teams, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Two professional references required prior to start, from most recent employers, one per employer
• International candidates must have SSN/SSC finalized prior to submission (pending not accepted)
• Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exceptions

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg patients in a Level 1 Trauma Center
• No block scheduling or special scheduling requests approved
• RTO limited to 5 days max with no more than 2 consecutive days, and no RTO on weekends
• No holiday RTO and no RTO the day before or after a holiday
• Contract may be cancelled if clinician calls out on a holiday
• Refusal to float may result in assignment cancellation
• Returning resources must undergo full recredentialing and orientation, even if the break in service was less than 30 days
• Local candidates accepted and preferred within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• First-time travelers are not being considered for this role
