Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical

Position Overview

The Medical Surgical unit is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver high-quality patient care in a collaborative and dynamic environment. The unit provides care for patients with a range of diagnoses, including respiratory, gastrointestinal, neurological, musculoskeletal conditions, and additional medical needs such as hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

Contract Details

• Length of Contract: 26 weeks, with preference for longer contracts (26-51 weeks). Shorter contracts may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Shift Requirements: 12-hour shifts, with a guaranteed 36 hours per week.
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Rotation: HCP may request 1 holiday off; additional federal and non-essential holidays observed.

Unit Information

• Unit Size: 32 beds.
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 staffing ratio.
• Float Requirements: Yes, to other post-surgical floors and medical-surgical inpatient floors.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care medical/surgical experience.
• Education: ADN or BSN required.
• Certifications: AHA BLS certification required at the time of submission.
• Licensure: Must possess a KS or multistate nursing license. No hits allowed.

Compliance and Documentation

Candidates must provide documentation of immunity status for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella, either through titer results or proof of vaccination series completion. TDaP and Influenza vaccines are required, or exemption requests will be accepted during flu season. TB documentation is also required.

Dress Code and Professional Appearance

• Scrub Color: Navy.
• Tattoos: Visible tattoos are permitted if they are not offensive or inappropriate for a professional setting.
• Piercings: Facial and ear piercings are acceptable, provided they do not interfere with job duties and maintain a professional appearance.
