Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Neuro

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with experience in Medical/Surgical nursing to join our Neuro & Behavioral Health unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care to medical/surgical patients, including those with neurological conditions and a history of behavioral health disorders.

Unit Overview

This is a 31-bed unit specializing in acute and subacute care for stroke patients, transient ischemic attacks, and medically unstable psychiatric illnesses, including substance detox and acute neurological conditions.

Employment Details

• Contract Length: 26 weeks preferred, longer contracts (up to 51 weeks) prioritized. Shorter contracts considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Start Dates: Orientation sessions every two weeks. Flexibility in start dates is required.
• Shift Information: 12-hour shifts with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. Weekend rotation every other weekend.
• Holiday Policy: Request for 1 holiday off permitted.
• Float Requirements: May require floating to other post-surgical and med-surg inpatient floors.

Qualifications

• Education: ADN or BSN required.
• Minimum Experience: 1 year of acute care medical/surgical nursing experience required.
• Certifications: AHA BLS required; CPI and NIHSS certifications are a plus.
• Licensure: Valid KS license or Multistate license required. No occurrences allowed.

General Requirements

• Charting System: Experience with Epic preferred (testing option available).
• Staffing Ratios: 1:6 patient ratio.
• Jewelry and Body Adornment: Visible tattoos permitted, along with acceptable piercings as long as they do not interfere with professional appearance.
• Vaccination Requirements: Proof of immunity for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella, or vaccination series completion; TDaP and Influenza vaccinations required during flu season; TB documentation needed.
