Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890–$1,990
- Location: Springfield, Illinois
- Healthcare Setting: Acute care hospital; Level I trauma and Magnet facility
- Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical Nursing
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- End Date: January 18, 2027
- Schedule: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour day shifts
- Shift Duration: 12-hour days, approximately 6:45 a.m.–7:15 p.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Call: Not required
- Floating: Required within the Registered Nurse’s scope of practice to support facility needs
- Charting: Cerner experience preferred
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at the time of application
- Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience
- Current BLS certification; AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted
- Demonstrated PICC line management experience
- Experience starting and maintaining intravenous lines
- Willingness to care for tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients; previous experience is not required, but willingness to learn is essential
- Ability to manage up to a 1:7 patient ratio when needed
- Willingness to float within scope of practice and work the required weekend rotation
- Additional experience with surgical drains, wound care, feeding tubes, ostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation, blood product administration, and urinary catheter care is valued
Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to medical-surgical patients across adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
- Complete nursing assessments, medication administration, care planning, patient education, and discharge support
- Manage PICC lines, central line dressings, peripheral IV insertions, infusions, and blood transfusions
- Perform dressing changes, drain care and removal, suture and staple removal, wound care, and wound-vac management
- Provide care for tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients, including suctioning and airway support
- Manage feeding tubes, ostomies, urinary catheters, suprapubic catheters, and continuous bladder irrigation
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote positive patient outcomes
- Accurately document patient care and clinical status using Cerner or other electronic health record systems
- Float to other units or affiliated locations as needed while practicing within the Registered Nurse’s scope and competencies
