Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with Urology/Nephrology experience for a day shift position requiring an active IL RN license and at least 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit specializing in Urology/Nephrology within an acute care hospital
• 25-bed unit with an average daily census of 23 patients
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to other Medical Surgical units or nearby affiliate facilities
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of application
• Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience required
• Previous charge experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Experience in MS/Tele and Med/Surg settings required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including telemetry remote monitoring and Rapid Response Team use
• Experience with genitourinary/renal case management, including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy, including blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Experience administering Heparin
• Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and portable oxygen tanks
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Level I Trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Kidney transplant and urology/nephrology experience preferred
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds
• Any solid color scrubs permitted
• Floating is required for all travelers within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• RTO requests of 5 days or fewer are typically accommodated; additional days require facility approval
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• First-time travelers considered, provided they have a solid foundation with more than 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience
• Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
