Travel Nurse Job Details

• Setting: Acute care Med/Surg unit
• Location: Wheeling, WV
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; weekends as scheduled
• Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,930-$2,030
• Charting System: EPIC
• Patient Population: CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI, and general medical-surgical cases
• Work Environment: 30-bed unit with remote telemetry monitoring and support from PCTs

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg or acute care nursing experience
• Current BLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Comfortable caring for 1:6/7 patient ratios
• Ability to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results
• Willingness to rotate days and nights and work scheduled weekends
• Adaptable, team-oriented, and ready to support varying patient acuity

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to medical-surgical patients across a variety of diagnoses
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status accurately and promptly in EPIC
• Administer medications and manage treatments according to the plan of care
• Titrate heparin infusions and respond appropriately to lab results and clinical changes
• Collaborate with charge nurses, aides, monitor techs, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Support telemetry-monitored patients and recognize changes in condition early
• Float as needed based on census and unit needs
• Maintain a professional, patient-focused approach in a busy acute care environment
