Med/Surg RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and clinical communication skills
• Ability to provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to patients with medical-surgical conditions in an acute-care setting
• Comfort working with electronic health records, telemetry monitoring, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult medical-surgical patients in an acute-care hospital environment
• Manage a typical assignment of approximately 6–7 patients while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
• Assess and monitor patients with conditions such as CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, acute kidney injury, and surgical concerns
• Administer medications and treatments, including titration of heparin according to aPTT results and facility protocols
• Monitor telemetry remotely and promptly recognize, document, and report changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, patient care technicians, respiratory therapy, and other interdisciplinary care team members
• Use EPIC to accurately document assessments, interventions, care plans, and patient responses
• Float to other appropriate units as needed based on census and operational needs
