Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology night shift position requiring 2+ years of Med/Surg experience and oncology experience.

Details

• Medical/Oncology unit caring for patients with cancer diagnoses, medical step-down patients, and general medical overflow
• 324-bed medical center offering primary and specialty care with 24-hour emergency and Level II trauma care
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Required to accept step-down patients
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required (compact license not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• Oncology experience required
• Must be comfortable taking step-down patients
• Prior travel work history highly preferred
• Epic EMR experience highly preferred
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• Current ACLS (AHA) certification required
• Skills checklist pertinent to Med/Surg specialty, current within 1 year, required
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years required

Additional Information

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with basic knowledge of cancer pathophysiology
• Provide direct patient care including nursing assessments, medication administration, treatments, and responding to alarms
• Evaluate treatment effectiveness and collaborate with care team to update treatment plans
• Process physician orders accurately and follow up on medication changes and order clarifications
• Navy blue scrub dress code
• Local candidates not considered; must reside outside a 50-mile radius
• No more than 5 days of RTO may be requested during the assignment
