Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg (Oncology & General Surgery) night shift position requiring a minimum of 1 year of acute care Med/Surg experience and an active KS or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on an Oncology & General Surgery unit (8T) in an acute care hospital setting
• 24-bed unit operating under a primary nursing care model
• Patient population includes oncology and general surgery patients, as well as remote telemetry patients
• Patient ratio is 1:5
• Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse and 5 nurses
• Standard Med/Surg care and chemotherapy administration are performed on the unit
• Remote telemetry monitoring is performed on select patients
• Charting is done via Meditech EMR
• Shift hours are 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (nights)

Requirements

• Active RN license in Kansas (KS) or a compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care hospital Med/Surg experience
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no exceptions; Canadian SSNs are not accepted
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
• ACLS certification preferred
• Chemotherapy (ONC) certification preferred; required to hang and administer chemotherapy on the unit

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
• Chemotherapy may only be administered by chemo-certified nurses
• Remote telemetry patients receive vital signs every 4 hours; all other patients receive vital signs every 8 hours
• The unit is supported by a strong charge nurse team that actively supports new and traveling staff members
• Staff communicate using an iPhone-based nursing system for real-time texting and calling with care team members
• The facility is a Magnet-designated hospital and is recognized among the top 100 hospitals nationally
• Unit culture is highly team-oriented; float pool staff frequently request this unit due to its collaborative environment
