Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York; verification of all active RN licenses through Nursys may be required
• At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience is required
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Demonstrated ability to provide care for adult post-surgical patients
• Experience using Epic or a comparable electronic medical record system
• Ability to float to other appropriate inpatient units as needed
• Provide an up-to-date resume, skills checklist, and requested time off at the time of submission

Med/Surg Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout the hospitalization
• Provide post-surgical nursing care for patients with conditions including abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and bariatric surgery recovery
• Complete comprehensive nursing assessments, monitor clinical status, and promptly communicate changes to the interdisciplinary care team
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with orders, policies, and professional standards
• Safely manage IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, feeding tubes, and other specialty equipment
• Support patient education, discharge planning, mobility, pain management, and recovery goals
• Accurately document nursing care and patient outcomes in the Epic electronic medical record
• Float to other appropriate areas when required while maintaining high standards of patient care
