AK TDY Registered Nurse - Inpatient Med/Surg Job Description: - Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in patient care? - Join our dynamic team as an Inpatient Med/Surg Registered Nurse in an exciting role that promises both challenge and fulfillment! Key Responsibilities: - Deliver exceptional patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. - Direct and coordinate nursing care tailored to the individual needs of patients. - Collaborate with a diverse team of healthcare professionals to ensure quality, cost-effective, and efficient care. - Serve as a resource when situations demand quick thinking and expertise. - Apply age-specific considerations and cultural sensitivity in all patient interactions. - Conduct initial assessments and 24-hour re-assessments for all patients, from infants to the elderly, including post-surgical and behavioral health cases. Position Qualifications: - Education: Completion of an NLN approved nursing program. - Experience: Minimum of 3 years preferred; new graduates are welcomed to apply! - License/Certification: - Licensed in good standing as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Alaska. - Current BLS certification. - Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training. Essential Skills: - Proficient in oral and written communication. - Knowledge of medical terminology and the nursing process. - Flexibility in work schedule with the ability to act independently within prescribed limits. - Experience managing behavioral health patients with therapeutic communication. - Strong mathematical skills for accurate medication administration and patient care documentation. - Ability to solve practical problems and interpret varied instructions effectively. Supervisory Responsibilities: - Collaborate with unit secretaries and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) under the guidance of the Charge Nurse.
