Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring an active IL RN license and Epic charting experience.

Details

  • Work in the Med/Surg unit of a hospital environment
  • Patient population includes neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Uses equipment such as PCA machines, kangaroo pumps, sequential compression devices, and blood glucose monitors
  • Performs procedures including central line insertion, chest tube management, thoracentesis, and paracentesis
  • Utilizes Epic EMR for charting
  • Night shift schedule: 6:00pm to 6:30am, three 12-hour shifts weekly
  • Weekend and holiday shifts required as needed
  • No floating requirements specified

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience
  • ASN required for education
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Skilled in IV access (peripheral and central line/PICC/Infusaport), IM and SQ injections
  • Experience with TPN administration and thrombolytic therapy

Additional Information

  • Performs initial patient assessments and develops individualized plans of care
  • Implements and modifies nursing interventions based on continuous patient evaluation
  • Delegates patient care tasks to Health Care Technicians and validates task completion
  • Receives and provides bedside shift report to ensure continuity of care
  • Focuses on patient safety through fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and isolation precautions
  • Responds to emergency situations as an effective team member
  • Utilizes patient whiteboards and hourly rounding to promote patient satisfaction
  • Communicates and collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare team members
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rate; local candidates not accepted
  • RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
