Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 3+ years of experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical/General Surgery unit within a 396-bed acute care hospital
• 13-week contract with night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Manager will also consider 3x12 schedules
• Patient ratio of 1:6, occasionally 1:7
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Holiday rotation and on-call rotation required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• EPIC charting system used
• Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager's discretion

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience highly preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• 1:6 patient ratio experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with wound care/wound vac, cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and dysrhythmia management
• Experience with ortho trauma, post-angiogram, and renal/hemodialysis patient care preferred
• Bladder scan skills preferred
• Driver's license and Social Security number required for consideration

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care including IV therapy, wound care, and cardiac monitoring
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for patient emergencies
• Scrub colors required are royal blue or white for RNs

• Holiday coverage prioritized; candidates willing to work holidays are preferred
• First-time travelers accepted but not preferred
• Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for one year before returning as a travel employee
• Local candidates are not accepted; a 60-mile radius rule applies with priority given to non-local candidates
• All requested time off must be submitted for approval in advance based on unit needs
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June-November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response duties
