Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring a KS or compact license and BLS certification in hand

Details

• >Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• 4 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule
• 13-week assignment length
• Floating required to like units within scope as needed
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active KS or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Experience with 1:5 patient ratios required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
• Wound care and wound vac experience
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response protocols
• Experience with orthopedic and total joint replacement patients preferred
• Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a variety of Med/Surg, neurological, orthopedic, and surgical patient populations
• Support cardiac monitoring and emergency response including rapid response and code team activation
• Receive brief orientation when floating to unit
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Former staff members must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of requested time off will be auto-approved, and no time off is permitted during the first week of orientation
