Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with Nephrology unit experience to provide patient care on a Days shift schedule, requiring an active OK or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Medicine/Nephrology unit of a hospital setting
• Cares for patients with a range of health conditions from simple to complex
• Days shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours per week)
• Med/Surg and Stepdown experience required
• Charge experience is a strong plus
• Requires familiarity with central line care and management, foley catheter care and management, and end-of-life care
• Must know proper dialysis site care, including avoiding use of HD catheters or attempting to access a fistula for blood draws

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
• Strong knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills required

Additional Information

• Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients and delivers competent nursing care
• Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and treatments, noting changes in physician orders
• Assists physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
• Monitors and obtains physiological data, intervening as necessary
• Administers prescribed medications and initiates, regulates, and monitors IV infusions and blood products
• Communicates care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge
• Educates patients and families on hospital procedures
• Refers patient care needs to appropriate personnel and delegates tasks to support staff
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Extensions limited to one time for a total of 26 weeks, with a required 6-month separation before reapplying
