Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Post Surgical Unit position requiring stepdown/PCU and acute care surgical floor experience.

Details

• Post Surgical Unit within a hospital setting caring for pre- and post-surgical inpatients
• Patient care includes new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT, and DHT management
• Ratios of 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for stepdown care patients
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours weekly

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
• Acute care surgical floor and stepdown/PCU experience required
• ENT and/or transplant experience preferred
• OR candidates will not be considered
• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Additional Information

• Provides direct nursing care to a mix of pre- and post-surgical patients
• Administers medications, monitors IV infusions and blood products, and documents patient responses to treatment
• Coordinates with physicians and delegates tasks to support staff as needed
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered
• Compliance documentation must be completed promptly, as start dates will not be pushed back
• Returning travelers may extend only once for a total of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
