RN – Inpatient Rehabilitation | Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in an acute inpatient rehabilitation unit.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized rehabilitation care plans.
- Care for patients recovering from stroke, trauma, orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, and other disabling illnesses.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, antibiotics, and Heparin drips (transitioning to Coumadin) as prescribed.
- Monitor patient progress, functional status, and changes in condition while promoting recovery and independence.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rehabilitation team conferences with physicians, PT, OT, and Speech Therapy.
- Administer respiratory treatments such as nebulizers and inhalers; collaborate with Respiratory Therapy for CPAP/BiPAP management.
- Educate patients and families on rehabilitation goals, medications, mobility, safety, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Cerner EMR.
- Float to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units as needed based on staffing requirements.
- Serve as Charge Nurse when assigned and supervise patient care activities.
Required Documents / Certifications
- Active RN License
- BLS (AHA)
- Recent Inpatient Rehabilitation experience or
- Medical-Surgical experience with previous travel experience
- Experience caring for stroke, orthopedic, trauma, and neurological patients
- Cerner experience (preferred)
