Registered Nurse II (RNII) - MedSurg/Telemetry Float Pool

Job Overview

The Registered Nurse II (RNII) position in the MedSurg/Telemetry Float Pool is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients in various units, including medical-surgical, telemetry, neuro, and observation units. This role requires a commitment to teamwork, flexibility in shifts, and proficiency in critical nursing skills.

Job Details

• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years in Med/Surg/Telemetry
• Certifications Required: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks (Saturdays and Sundays)
• Holidays: Required based on unit needs
• Orientation: 2 shifts of orientation (1 shift on the unit and 1 shift in ED holds; a third shift may be included as needed)
• Location: Multiple locations within the region

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care in a float pool setting across various units.
• Participate in team huddles and communication sessions to ensure continuity of care.
• Complete required assessments and documentation at the bedside, including skin assessments within the first 4 hours of the shift.
• Utilize advanced skills in medical interventions, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, after passing simulations.
• Adhere to established protocols and guidelines for maintaining a sterile field during procedures.
• Float between different units as needed, demonstrating versatility and adaptability to diverse patient populations and environments.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing is required.
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong clinical skills and critical thinking ability.
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to patient care.
• Competency in managing patient transfers and floating to various units as needed.

Additional Information

Travelers must be willing to be floated between units and will not have the option to refuse assignments. Orientation and simulation labs will be conducted to ensure all nurses are proficient in essential skills. The staffing office operates remotely, and nurses are expected to check for assignments using the appropriate communication channels.
