Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring PA fingerprinting/ChildLine compliance and a PA or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes med/surg, telemetry, orthopedic, ortho trauma, total joint replacement, and plastics/surgical drain patients
• Patient ratio of 1:6-7
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA state or compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with feeding tube care, CBI, and heparin protocols
• One supervisory reference from within the past year required for consideration
• Must complete lab work within 72 hours of signing contract

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include providing telemetry and med/surg nursing care across orthopedic, ortho trauma, and general surgical patient populations
• Candidates must complete PA fingerprinting and ChildLine registration within 48 hours of signing a contract, and fingerprinting must be completed within PA
• Prompt cooperation with credentialing is required to avoid risk of contract cancellation
• Previous permanent or per diem employment at this health system must be disclosed, and such employees must wait 18 months before returning as a traveler
• Preferred skills include seizure disorder, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and pre/post neurosurgery care
• Preferred skills also include IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration, cardiac/vasoactive drip management, and PCA management
