Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg Tele for a 12-hour day shift position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center, requiring 2+ years of Med/Surg experience and telemetry strip reading skills.

Details

• Acute Care for Elderly unit within a 885-bed Level 1 Trauma academic medical center
• 16-bed unit with full census and 3-4 bed turnovers per shift
• Patient population includes geriatric patients (65+) with diagnoses including DM, GI, respiratory, renal, and wound care
• RN to patient ratio of 5-6:1, CNA ratio of 8:1
• 12-hour day shift schedule (7A-7P), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required to 8 Reynolds, 8 North, 9 North A/B, 9 Ardmore, 10 Ardmore, 8 North-B, and 8 Ardmore
• Centralized telemetry monitoring with strip signing required each shift
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core work experience in unit specialty area, with most recent experience within the last year
• Strong IV skills and telemetry strip reading experience required
• Strong time management, interpersonal, and written/oral communication skills
• Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care and tolerate moderate to high stress levels
• Epic EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

• Provide direct patient care to geriatric patients with a strong focus on mobilization and functional community-dwelling status
• Supported by CNAs, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, rapid response team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, educator, and OT/PT/ST
• No dedicated IV/VAT team on the unit
• Orientation includes facility-wide NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Royal blue scrub color required
