Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience and GA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Works on a 35-bed Med/Surg-Telemetry unit within a 637-bed Level 1 Trauma, teaching, chest pain, and stroke center
• Cares for patients with acute or chronic disease, post-op surgeries, and comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4-6
• 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p), 36 hours/week
• Weekend rotation requires 6 shifts in a 6-week period
• Floats to all adult med-surg/telemetry units in the hospital
• Unit supported by CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, resource/discharge nurses, PICC team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Utilizes VS3 and Dynamap vital sign monitors, cardiac telemetry, bladder scanners, Glucommander, PCA pumps, and suction machines

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
• BLS certification required
• Must pass a Basic Cardiac Rhythm (EKG) competency exam
• ACLS and Medical-Surgical national certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skilled in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, insulin and heparin drip titration, central line management, and wound care
• Strong clinical assessment skills suited for a Level 1 Trauma hospital setting
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Responsible for cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, IV insertion and care, discharge planning, and patient education
• Coordinates care with interdisciplinary teams in a busy but team-oriented unit culture
• Orientation includes 1 day of facility-level education modules and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Must work one day during each major holiday period, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Scrub color requirement: Navy for RNs
