Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on an Acute Neurosurgery and ENT unit, requiring NIHSS certification and at least one year of nursing experience.

Details

  • Work on an 18-bed post-op Acute Neurosurgery and ENT unit within a hospital setting
  • Care for neurosurgery patients including brain and spinal surgeries, trauma, cancer, stroke, and intracranial bleeds
  • Care for ENT surgery patients including head and neck malignancies, cancer, and infections involving the head, mouth, tongue, jaw, thyroid, and oropharynx
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift schedule from 7:00pm to 7:00am
  • 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Required to function as charge nurse as needed, with training provided

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience required
  • Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing school required
  • BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing school preferred
  • Strong skills in patient assessment, care planning, discharge planning, complex problem-solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Additional Information

  • Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting
  • Perform bedside point of care testing as required for patient care plans
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate and plan patient care
  • Assess and address discharge planning needs, including for high-risk patients
  • Address cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care planning
  • Participate in unit performance improvement activities and goal setting
  • Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment
