Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a Level 3 Trauma hospital, requiring NC/compact RN licensure and at least 18 months of Med/Tele nursing experience.

Details

• 241-bed Level 3 Trauma hospital with a Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
• 32-bed Med/Surg Tele unit with average census of 28
• Patient population includes total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder and appendectomy cases, amputations, hip fractures, SBO, NG tubes, and medical overflow
• RN ratios of 1:4-6 days and 1:5-6 nights, with surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week (1900-0700)
• Weekend rotation every other weekend on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Possible low census call back, up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Required to float within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Core skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Support staff includes CNAs, unit receptionists/HUCs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Telemetry monitoring and tech support available on the unit
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers expected to work 75% of designated holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any unmet contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
• Navy scrub color required

• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for traveler placement
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before returning as a traveler
