Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring NC or compact RN licensure and 18 months of Med/Tele experience.

Details

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center facility
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios up to 1:7-8
• 12hr night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation with a 6-week schedule cycle
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division - CMC Main, Mercy, LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring techs available on the unit
• Uses Epic EMR
• Unit equipped with virtual nursing technology (10 cameras) for medication witnessing, patient monitoring, and admission/discharge support

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Core Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drip management (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for Med/Surg Tele patients including cardiac monitoring, wound care, and line/drain management
• Work alongside a supportive, patient-centered, and collaborative unit team
• 2-day departmental orientation plus New Employee Orientation (NEO) provided
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
• Navy scrub color required
