Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on night shift requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Nursing unit within a Level 3 Trauma teaching-certified hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
• 32-bed surgical unit with an average census of 28
• Patient population includes total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder and appendectomy cases, amputations, hip fractures, SBO, medical overflow, and NG tube management
• RN ratios of 1:4-6 days and 1:5-6 nights, with surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700) at 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Possible low census call back, up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• 24/7 support from RT, hospitalist, and intensivist teams, plus dedicated CNA, HUC, charge nurse, and IV/VAT team support

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum of one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy surgical Med/Surg Tele unit, including cardiac monitoring and post-surgical management
• Navy scrub color required
• Holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Returning employees must have been separated from any Advocate Health Southeast facility for at least one year following a permanent position
