Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg-Tele unit with 32 beds and average census of 28
• Patient population includes total joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder and appendectomy surgeries, amputations, hip fractures, SBO, and medical overflow cases
• RN staffing ratios of 1:4-6 days and 1:5-6 nights, with surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• 12hr night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Possibility of low census call, with call back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Telemetry monitoring support provided by dedicated tech staff
• EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Phillips monitors used on the unit

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg-Tele RN experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Last 4 of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Support staff includes CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Level 3 Trauma facility with 241 licensed beds, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation, not a teaching hospital
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• RTO of up to 6 days off may be approved, excluding holidays, with contract extension required if hours are not met
• Navy scrub color required
