Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 32-bed unit requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit within a 241-bed Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0700), 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Every-other-weekend rotation required
• Low census call possible, with callback up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, IV pumps, med dispensing systems, monitors, and unit-specific virtual nursing camera system (VNO)
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide direct patient care including ADL support coordination with CNAs, medication administration, and monitoring of cardiac and respiratory status
• Virtual nursing support available for medication witnessing, patient monitoring, and admission/discharge assistance
• 2-day departmental orientation provided in addition to standard new employee orientation (NEO)
• Navy scrub color required

• Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
