Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift float pool position requiring 2 years of Med/Tele experience and GA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Float pool position covering all inpatient Med/Surg and Telemetry units in a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital
• Units range from 20-36 beds each
• Patient population includes acute and chronic disease, cardiac (post-cath, CHF, a-fib), and post-surgical (general, ortho, trauma) cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4-6
• 12hr night shift schedule (7P-7A), 36 hours per week, 40 standard hours
• Weekend rotation of 6 shifts on a 6-week schedule
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required to all Med/Tele units and to the ED for holds
• Central telemetry monitoring unit supports cardiac rhythm tracking
• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis; Monitors: Phillips
• Unit-specific equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors and Nova Glucose Stat Strips

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred (will need to pass EKG competency exam during onboarding)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• 6 months of EPIC EMR experience required
• Skills required: trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts and IV maintenance, glucommander, drip titration (insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, nicardipine), and telemetry monitoring/rhythm interpretation
• Experience with post-cath and TR band/groin site management required (no sheath pulls)
• Strong assessment, time management, care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education skills required
• Last 4 of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, resource/discharge nurses, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• PICC team available; lab collect phlebotomy performed by most units
• Orientation includes 1 day of educational modules and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Unit culture described as busy and team-oriented
• Scrub color requirement: Navy for RNs
• Free parking available on campus, with paid deck options also available
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays

• No radius rule for GA facilities; local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
