Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Monroe, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 45-bed Surgical/Med-Tele unit at a 174-bed community hospital in Monroe, NC
  • Patient population includes general surgery, orthopedics, COPD, stroke, diabetes, and general med-surg diagnoses
  • RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6, with LPN and CNA support
  • Performs IV starts, drain/tube management, wound care, NGT placement, central line management, and management of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin gtts, and blood products)
  • EMR: Epic (experience required)
  • IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
  • Every-other-weekend rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating required within Region 2, which includes Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) — candidates who are not agreeable to this floating requirement should not apply
  • Schedule is posted on a 6-week cycle

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Proficiency in general Med-Surg RN skills including IV starts, wound care, drain/tube management, NGT placement, and central line management
  • Experience managing non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin gtts, and blood products) required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
  • Orientation includes a New Employee Orientation (NEO) session plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; time off that results in unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract

  • Support staff includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse (typically without a patient assignment), a team lead, a dedicated phlebotomy team, an IV/VAT team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 hospitalist coverage, and centralized telemetry monitoring/tech on the 4th floor
