Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center facility
• Patient population includes stroke, respiratory illness (flu/pneumonia/COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700) on a 36-hour week, with an every-6-week schedule cycle
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Low census call possible, with call-back up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, IV pumps, med dispensing systems, and cardiac monitors
• Unit utilizes Virtual Nursing (VNO) technology with 10 cameras to assist with med witnessing, monitoring, and admission/discharge tasks
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Telemetry monitoring techs available on the unit

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide direct medical/surgical and telemetry nursing care to an acute adult patient population
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the position
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously employed in a permanent position there
• Travelers will be required to work 75% of designated holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; time must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met
• Navy scrub color required
