Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN - Med/Surg Tele for a night shift position at an academic Level 1 Trauma Center, requiring an active NC or compact RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Tele experience.

Details

  • ,it (5C, part of the Nursing Throughput Unit within a Level 1 Trauma, Academic Medical Center
  • Unit has 10 beds with an average daily census of 8 patients
  • Patient population includes MedSurg cases (DM, respiratory, GI, neuro, trauma with spinal precautions) as well as cardiac and CT surgery patients, including pre-CABG and clean Cath lab patients requiring TR band management
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:5, with CNA support at 1:10
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
  • Requires every-other-weekend (EOW) rotation
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Floating required to Rehab, 4 Ardmore, 10 Reynolds, 9 Reynolds, 5 Ardmore, Burn-10 North, and 4A MedSurg Overflow
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
  • Telemetry monitors are located at bedside, with RN responsible for reading and interpreting cardiac strips
  • 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist support available
  • CNA and HUC/receptionist support provided on the unit
  • Charge nurse floats freely but may occasionally take a full patient assignment

Requirements

  • >Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Tele experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Travel experience preferred
  • Skills required in cardiac rhythm interpretation, PCA pumps, surgical drain management, wound care, and TR band management
  • Must be comfortable learning to manage Cardizem, Nitro, and Amio drips
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

  • Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced academic medical center setting known for a friendly, collaborative unit culture
  • Complete NEO facility orientation plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • Free parking provided
  • Travelers will be expected to work 75% of holidays
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Previous employees of AHSE facilities must be separated from any perm position for at least 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment
  • Clinical interview required as part of the hiring process
