Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg Tele for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Position located on the ADTU, a 12-bed Med/Tele overflow unit supporting inpatient units and ED holding
• Patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, chest pain workup, stroke symptoms, and respiratory issues
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with critical surge ratios up to 1:7-8; CNA ratio 1:6-12
• No dedicated telemetry monitoring tech on the unit
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week, with an every-other-weekend rotation
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to other facilities within assigned region and scope of practice as needed
• Home unit assignment occurs on the first day of orientation

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• General Med/Tele skillset including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management required
• Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Additional Information

• Provide Med/Surg-Tele level care to a diverse inpatient population within a facility that holds Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
• Facility is not trauma designated and is not a teaching hospital
• Supported by CNA, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for approximately 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract
• Navy scrub color required
• Free parking available
• First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
• Candidates must be separated from any Advocate Health Southeast facility for at least 1 year following prior permanent employment
• Traveler's permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the home unit
• Manager holds final approval on clinical interviews
