Registered Nurse - Inpatient Surgery Unit

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift from 18:45 to 07:15, 3x12-hour shifts.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide care in the Inpatient Surgery Unit, managing a wide range of surgical and trauma cases. The RN is expected to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures or those involved in trauma.
• Manage patient care with a typical ratio of 1:6.
• Assist in various inpatient surgical procedures and trauma cases.
• Utilize specialized equipment including wound vacs, chest tubes, and drains.
• Document patient care and medication administration using EPIC and other systems.
• Participate in teamwork activities, including emergency response as part of the Storm or Hurricane Team if necessary.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license with a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Strong skills in care management, including bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP) management and administration of blood products.
• Ability to start and maintain IVs and manage various types of drains.
• Comfortable with floating as needed within the assigned hospital facilities.
