Job Overview

This position is primarily focused on providing surgical care, specifically for patients who have undergone orthopedic, gynecological, urological, and general surgeries. The role requires the nurse to assess, implement, and evaluate the care of postoperative patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) will collaborate with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to ensure individualized patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate the care required by assigned postoperative patients under the direction of a licensed physician.
• Utilize the nursing process to collaborate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
• Direct nursing support staff in providing patient care, adhering to nursing standards, administrative policies, and departmental procedures.
• Participate in staffing adjustments and may be floated to other units based on the needs of the healthcare facility.

Work Schedule

An every other weekend commitment is expected. The successful candidate will also be required to work one evening of a major holiday (Christmas or New Year’s) and one holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s), depending on unit needs.

Unit Information

The unit consists of 20 beds, with a typical patient-to-nurse ratio of 4 to 5 patients per RN. During full census periods, staffing will include 5 RNs and 2 nursing assistants.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required).
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a relevant clinical specialty (preferred).
• Active Pennsylvania Registered Nurse License (required).
• Basic Life Support certification (required).
• Multi-State Compact RN License (required).

Professional Development

Ongoing education, training, or additional certifications may be required depending on the specialty area.
