Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring telemetry/rhythm interpretation skills and drip titration experience.

Details

• Acute care Med Surg/Tele unit with 24-32 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 on nights
• Patient population includes respiratory, COPD, CIWA, chest pain, and pre-stress test observation cases
• Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, every other weekend
• Uses EPIC EMR
• RNs are required to titrate drips including cardizem and amiodarone
• RNs must read and confirm their own telemetry strips using GE monitors
• Floating required to all 3 campuses
• Weekend requirement of 5-6 shifts per 6-week period
• Holiday rotation required (A, B, C team)
• On-call not typically required for travelers

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required, no pending licenses accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required, no pending certifications accepted
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Telemetry and rhythm interpretation skills required
• BSN not required for this position
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Work alongside charge nurses and patient care techs on the unit
• Charge nurse may take an assignment of 1-3 patients on days or 1-5 on nights
• Patient care techs support with feeding, blood glucose checks, bathing, toileting, and labs at a 1:17 ratio
• Respiratory therapy equipment is managed by RT staff; RNs contact RT for troubleshooting
• Telemetry monitoring is conducted virtually, with RNs confirming rhythms placed in the chart
• Three shifts of unit-specific orientation required, one at each campus
• Navy blue scrubs required, not provided by facility
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with the health system within the past year
