Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring compact/NC RN licensure and prior Med/Tele experience.

Details

• 241-bed Level 3 Trauma teaching-exempt hospital with Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designation
• 24-bed Med/Surg-Tele unit with an average daily census of 24
• Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, and neuro diagnoses in a fast-paced observation setting
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6, with potential surge ratios up to 1:7-8
• CNA to patient ratio of 1:12
• 12-hour night shift schedule from 7p-7a, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Possible low census call-back, up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) within scope of practice
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo patient monitors
• Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist coverage, 24/7 intensivist, and remote tele monitoring with tele tech

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg-Tele RN experience required
• At least 6 months of Epic EMR experience required
• Core Med/Tele skillset required including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
• General medical/surgical skills required including care of patients with tubes and drains
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum of one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide direct nursing care to Med/Surg-Tele patients with cardiac, respiratory, and neurological conditions
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus two days of departmental orientation
