Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for an ENT/Plastic Surgery unit, requiring tracheostomy and free flap monitoring experience along with a MO or compact RN license.

Details

• 13-week night shift assignment (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• ENT and Plastic Surgery unit caring for patients with tracheostomies, total laryngectomies, carotid blow-out precautions, and free flap patients
• 1:5 patient ratio
• Telemetry monitoring required on the unit
• Every-other-weekend work requirement
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (no issuance if tied to another compact state)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years Med/Surg experience required; will consider 1+ year with Level I Trauma or teaching facility experience
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in drain care, flap monitoring post-op, tracheostomy/total laryngectomy care, tube feeding, phlebotomy, IV access, and central line management
• BSN preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide specialized nursing care for ENT and plastic surgery patients including cuffed/cuffless tracheostomies, total laryngectomies, and free flap monitoring
• Navy blue scrubs required
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
• Local candidates not accepted within a 75-mile radius
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any facility within this health system as a traveler
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Facial hair must allow for proper fit testing or must be shaved, with no exceptions
