Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license, working 12hr night shifts.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting, Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designated
• 34-bed unit with average census of 32 patients plus 3 surge rooms
• Patient population includes ESRD, CHF, Pneumonia, Sickle Cell Crisis, Diabetes/DKA, Wounds, and Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, mostly medical cases
• Starting Spring 2026, unit will also care for Hematology/Oncology patients (chemo certification not required, chemo administration not expected unless certified)
• RN patient ratios: 1:5 days, 1:6 nights (critical surge up to 1:7-8)
• 12-hour night shifts (7P-7A), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required within Region 2 (Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division including CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital), within scope of practice
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Rover communication devices, and Hoyer lifts
• Telemetry monitoring support and telemetry techs available

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• ONS certification preferred but not required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required
• Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone) required, or manager approval needed if lacking experience
• General medical/surgical skillset required, including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Provide comprehensive Med/Surg Tele nursing care in a newly opened unit (January 2025) with a welcoming, psychologically safe, and just/fair culture
• Support team includes CNAs, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, dedicated pharmacist, case managers, Clinical Nurse Specialist, respiratory therapy, nurse educator, and hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Clinical interviewing required
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
