Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for an oncology unit requiring at least 2 years of current acute care experience and an Ohio or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit within an oncology hospital setting
• Cares for adult and geriatric patients with cancers including endometrial, bladder, renal, ovarian, and cervical
• Unit specializes in chemotherapy, clinical trials, brachytherapy, and CBI treatments
• Staffing ratios target 1:4 but may adjust to 1:5 based on unit needs
• Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts (3x12), with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week period
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling requests
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care Med/Surg Tele experience within the last 12 months
• Experience must be in the specialty being applied for
• Proficiency interpreting and managing dysrhythmias with cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Skilled in chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Experience with PCA medication management, surgical drains, and tracheostomy care preferred
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric oncology patients, supporting physical and emotional well-being
• Administer chemotherapy and monitor for adverse reactions
• Participate in clinical trials, assisting with data collection and documentation
• Perform specialized procedures including brachytherapy and neobladder care
• Implement infection prevention protocols and fall risk management practices
• Provide feeding tube care, IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line maintenance
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and utilize rapid response resources as needed
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former facility employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for travel assignments
• RTO must be submitted with the contract and built in, limited to 7 days or less
• First-time travelers are welcome, provided they show a willingness to learn and grow their nursing practice
