Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele oncology unit requiring compact or OH license and telemetry interpretation skills.

Details

• Med/Surg Oncology unit caring for all solid tumor cancer types across the treatment continuum, including end-of-life care
• Adult and geriatric patient population with common diagnoses including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancer, as well as chemotherapy administration
• Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, potentially up to 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour rotating schedule (19:00-07:30)
• Variable weekend scheduling based on unit needs with no set/blocked scheduling
• Floating required to other MedSurg Oncology units
• Uses Epic for computerized charting
• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience in Med/Surg Tele, consistently worked within the last 12 months
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and central line blood draws
• Experience accessing and managing ports and blood product administration preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
• Tracheostomy care/management skills preferred
• Oncology experience and chemotherapy administration experience preferred but not required
• Epic charting experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)

• Work within a teaching hospital environment as part of a dedicated oncology care team
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply and encouraged to come with a willingness to learn and grow their nursing practice
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible for a travel assignment at this facility
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance timelines
