Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit position requiring an active IL RN license and 2+ years of relevant experience.

Details

• Work in a Progressive Care/Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Unit maintains a 1:7 patient ratio
• Contract options of 48-hour or 36-hour weekly schedules
• Contract lengths of 8, 10, or 13 weeks available
• Uses Epic EMR
• Facility operates as a Level 1 through Level 4 trauma center depending on location

Requirements

• Active RN license in Illinois required, with Iowa license or compact license required or in-process
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
• Prior travel contract experience preferred
• Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
• Experience with chest tubes, femstops, trachs, CBIs, drains, and central lines required
• Experience administering and titrating Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Isuprel, Milrinone, and Argatroban required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Completed skills checklist within 1 year of application required
• One supervisory reference from within 2 years of employment/contract required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to a high-acuity telemetry/progressive care population, including titration of critical medications
• Candidates must not have been employed by the health system within the past 12 months
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility unless applying for a Madison-area assignment, which accepts local candidates at a reduced rate
• Required to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving)
• Limited to 1 day off requested during peak holiday blackout periods (11/26/25-11/30/25 and 12/23/25-1/2/26)
• First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the experience requirements
