Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a short-term acute care hospital, requiring prior travel experience and an active SC or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Work setting is a 97-bed short-term acute care hospital in Lancaster, SC
  • Position is on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit
  • Patient ratio is 1:6 to 1:7
  • Schedule is nights, 3x12-hour shifts (7p–7a)
  • Every other weekend is required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating to like units with like patients may be required
  • Charting is done via Epic
  • Free parking is available on-site

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must have the license active prior to start
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Required certifications (AHA): BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, and cardiac monitoring required
  • Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias preferred
  • Experience with telemetry and neurological/psychiatric patient populations preferred
  • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
  • Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are given priority
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront, as RTO requests after submission will not be approved
  • Required online modules must be completed prior to start; module access is typically provided the Wednesday before the start date
  • Attendance at staff meetings is required
  • Scrub color is Royal Blue
  • Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November, with peak activity in August and September), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
