Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med-Surg/Telemetry position requiring 2 years of experience and current Epic charting experience.

Details

• Work on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit with 18 private rooms and one semi-private room, for a maximum census of 20 patients
• Care for a diverse patient population ranging from young adults to geriatrics with a broad range of care needs
• Maintain a patient ratio of 1:6
• Work night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Work every other weekend (half of scheduled shifts)
• Utilize Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg/Telemetry RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with feeding tube care and colostomy/ileostomy management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Experience with wound care/wound vac
• Experience with respiratory care including oxygen administration and suctioning
• Experience with renal failure and hemodialysis management

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care across a range of acuity levels
• Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted for this position
• Previous staff members must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• All requested time off must be submitted and approved prior to contract start, with no more than 3 days auto-approved and none during the first week of orientation
• First-time travelers may be considered based on experience level
