Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a Level 1 Trauma hospital unit requiring EKG interpretation skills and tele monitoring experience.

Details

• Work in the 12 Tower MedSurg/Tele unit of a busy, large Level 1 Trauma hospital
• Unit serves Med/Surg patients and acts as backup for Neurology, Stroke, and Neuro surgery cases, including 2-4 backup beds for Candida Auris patients
• All patients are on telemetry monitoring
• 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a), with arrival 15 minutes early for shift change required
• Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required
• Holiday coverage rotated with permanent staff
• Required to float, with travelers prioritized first for floating
• No self-scheduling; flexibility with scheduling required
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (Texas or Compact/NLC)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; 3+ years with busy hospital experience preferred
• Experience with basic EKG interpretation and telemetry strip reading required
• Experience with cardiac drips required for floating assignments
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred but not required
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg-Tele unit with periodic support for Neurology, Stroke, and Neuro surgery patients
• Navy scrub color required
• Orientation includes 2 days in the classroom and 2 shifts on the floor
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Candidates with recent direct employment (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year will not be considered; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
