Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and an NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for a multi-level patient population including an isolation area for COVID patients
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15), 3x12 schedule
• 36 or 48 hour contracts accepted
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR for medication, documentation, and communication
• May be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care, heparin protocols, PCA, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and insulin drip titration
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a Med/Surg Tele setting including non-invasive airway management and respiratory care
• Unit orientation is 24 hours with hospital orientation and daily classes during week one
• Navy scrubs required
• Pre-start modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles) must be completed prior to start and annually
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO up to 7 days may be auto-approved excluding holidays; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at time of consideration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a local rate
• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm, PRN, or EP) must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
