Travel Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Winston-Salem, NC

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,660–$1,750
- Location: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
- Travel Contract: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 6:45 a.m.–7:15 p.m.
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 5–6 patients per nurse, with the potential to flex to 7 in exceptional circumstances
- Patient Population: Adult orthopedic, neuro-spine, medical-surgical, and post-surgical patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call Requirement: None
- Floating: Required within nearby medical-surgical units to support staffing needs
- Time Off: Up to 7 days may be approved in advance; no time off during the first week or on holidays
Orthopedic RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a compact state; pending license may be considered for submission
- At least 2 years of recent registered nursing experience, including orthopedic nursing experience
- Previous orthopedic, orthopedic trauma, or post-surgical nursing experience required
- Epic electronic health record and charting experience required
- BLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Demonstrated experience with IV starts, telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, oxygen therapy, isolation precautions, peripheral and central line care, surgical drains, PCA therapy, blood product administration, and heparin protocols
- Experience caring for total joint replacement, hip trauma, neuro-spine post-surgical, and spinal cord injury patients preferred
- Charge nurse and Level I trauma experience preferred
- First-time travel nurses may be considered with strong Epic experience
- Ability to complete required pre-start testing within 48 hours of signing and finish assigned online learning modules before the start date
- Successful completion of an EKG assessment before the start of the assignment
Orthopedic Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult orthopedic, neuro-spine, medical-surgical, and post-operative patients
- Manage acute and post-surgical pain using multiple medications and evidence-based interventions
- Monitor telemetry and recognize, interpret, and respond to dysrhythmias
- Care for patients following total joint replacement, orthopedic trauma, hip procedures, and spine surgery
- Perform patient assessments, medication administration, IV therapy, line management, wound and drain care, and ongoing reassessment
- Support patients requiring oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway management, and other acute-care interventions
- Collaborate with rehabilitation, respiratory, pharmacy, radiology, laboratory, social services, and rapid response teams
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation in Epic and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
- Deliver compassionate, customer-focused care in a fast-paced orthopedic and post-surgical environment
- Float to appropriate nearby medical-surgical units when needed and contribute to a collaborative nursing team culture
