Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 16-week night shift position requiring 2 years of med/surg experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Med/Surg unit specializing in GI/GU care, including colon resection, colon cancer, bladder cancer, and medical overflow patients
  • High turnover surgical patient unit
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Patient ratio of 1:4-6
  • Floating required within service line
  • No on-call requirements
  • No block scheduling accommodations
  • Centralized telemetry monitoring with basic tele knowledge preferred
  • Unit administers Heparin, Lidocaine (pain only), Bicarb, Bivalirudin, and occasionally stable non-titrated Amiodarone drips
  • Manages PCAs, epidurals, and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) with various irrigation solutions
  • Performs procedures including foley catheter care, CBI, and TURP protocols
  • Follows colorectal patient care protocols
  • Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
  • Pending MO license accepted for submission
  • BLS and ACLS certification required (ACLS required by compliance deadline for BJH)
  • BSN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required for first-time travelers
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required
  • Experience with blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, and PICC line management required
  • Colostomy/ileostomy management and feeding tube care experience required
  • Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications required
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
  • Telemetry remote monitoring experience required
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Must be able to maintain facial hair compliant with fit testing standards or be willing to shave
  • Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide excellent patient care with strong documentation and teamwork skills
  • Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius; no local candidates accepted
  • RTO limited to no more than 7 days per contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
  • All RTO must be finalized at time of submission with no additional requests after submission, offer, or start
  • Returning travelers must complete an 18-month assignment period followed by a 3-month break in service
  • Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Contract length is firm with no early cancellation to accept another BJC assignment
