Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Float Pool Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 2 years of acute care and travel experience, working nights and every other weekend at a hospital in Massachusetts.

Details

  • Float Pool position requiring willingness to float between 8 different Med/Surg Telemetry units throughout the hospital (Davenport 5, Davenport 7, Davenport 8, Davenport 9, ED, PH6/7, Pingree 4, and Overflow)
  • Patient population includes ED border patients, patients in the acute mental health unit (medication nurse role), and non-vented transfer-ready ICU patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is up to 5:1 on days/evenings and up to 6:1 on nights
  • Unit census ranges from 8 to 41 beds across a 371-bed facility
  • Shift is 19:00–07:30 (12.5-hour night shifts), 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • 1 to 3 rotations to days/evenings per contract
  • EMR: Epic (charting)
  • Timekeeping system: UKG/Kronos
  • Free on-site parking available

Requirements

  • Active Massachusetts RN license required — no pending or conditional MA licenses accepted
  • AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required (AHA only; Red Cross not accepted for this facility)
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital experience in a single location required
  • Minimum 2 years of travel nursing experience required
  • Telemetry skills required, including measuring intervals, interpreting tele strips every 4 hours, and managing cardiac drips
  • TR Band experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Flu vaccine required — no religious or medical exemptions accepted
  • 2 professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, administering cardiac drips, and reading and interpreting telemetry strips
  • Local candidates with a permanent residence within 60 miles of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston are eligible to apply
  • All certifications must be from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
  • Any approved time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of consideration
  • 13-week contract
